"The Lockdown"
What makes life worth living?
Those of us who have had our eyes open in the last few months, have noticed something quite intriguing. We’ve caught a glimpse of things that are incredibly valuable to the quality of our lives. Things that we might usually push aside as unimportant; amidst the stressed-out, rat-race life we might normally lead.
During the “lockdown” period of the pandemic, not only have most of us had more time on our hands than usual, but many have had almost nothing else to do accept to meditate, make love, do yoga, spend hours at a time playing with our kids, contact old friends, dance alone, get lots of sleep, take long walks in nature, write in our journals, cook and enjoy wonderful food, listen to beautiful music, read our favorite kind of books, get involved in a creative project, or just experience awe at the sight of a plane-free, blue sky. All the things that make life worth living.
Yet, there is a big part of each of us that doesn’t really believe it would be possible to satisfactorily integrate those things into our lives, in the long term. If you look closely at yourself as an example, you’ll be amazed to find a habitual, unconscious system of rationalization that causes you to perceive yourself as severely limited in some way by default, leaving you powerless in the face of circumstance. Even your greatest dreams and visions can be left behind and forgotten, because you are stuck in a self-image that is far too small to fit your soul into.
The good news? We can expand our self-image. We can break free from the prison of old conditioning and out of the grip of even genetically related personality traits. Not only are we able to transform our self-image from negative to positive, but we can also completely shift our identity from being only human, to also being divine.
Clarifying our life priorities is key to changing who we believe ourselves to be. When we are confident about what is most important to us and integrate those essential elements into our lifestyle, then our wiser, Higher Self steps forward and leads with Love. When we remember the lockdown period, may it remind us of how beautiful our lives actually are; when we finally decide to live a beautiful life!
